Real credit cards?

What is a real credit card classified as? A REAL credit card is a card from a credit card compnay with a line of credit to purchase things with. The car rental company also can force charge a real credit card if customer's total is above the credit limit.

Gift credit cards are NOT real credit cards. They are gift cards with a set amount placed on the card plain and simple. This means a car rental might not accept it even if it takes debit/check cards, though others will charge a deposit over the price of the rental. A gift credit card says the word debit on it. Other car rentals requiring a credit card simply will not accept gift credit cards period because they can not be forced charge.

Debit/check cards with Visa or Mastercard logo are NOT real credit cards because the card is attached to a bank account. That is why it says debit or check card on it. Running the card as a credit card only means the customer does not poke in their pin number, it still is attached to a bank account. Some rentals will take them with a deposit on top of the price of the rental, others will accept them if customer has a round trip ticket to prove they are coming back. As I said with gift credit cards, debit/check cards can not be forced charge.

Believe it or not there are dishonest people in the world, so car rental companies are often more reluctant to accept cash, gift credit cards, and debit/check cards upfront. When returning the car, companies are more willing to accept any form of payment. Once one customer screws the company out of money, all customers following the scammer are punished with stricter rules when they arrive to rent their cars. Any questions? Post later. Genie out.
