Hail Damage
My boss called me at work this past weekend to ask if there had been hail during the rain shower we had been experiencing that night. I asked one of the outside guys at another car rental and he said no. That was a relief. Hail storms are so much fun. We have to inspect the 20+ cars sitting by the door for damage before we rent them. I was wearing sandles that night. Then the following weeks we have cars repaired. On top of that, we eventually get the jerk at the counter who demands the day after a hail storm to rent a car without hail damage. All our cars have damage. They will argue to the death that they must have a damage free car and have it now. Don't we place them in a garage? (Answer: Do you see car dealerships holding their 100+ cars for sale in a garage? Neither do we.) They ask how they get a damage free car (Answer: go to a city the hail storm did not strike) and next threatening to rent from the competition (Our competition's cars all have hail damage too). The customers may have a damage free car after they are repaired at a first come, first serve basis.
The day after a hail storm we have worried car renters call with hail damage. Yeah, we figured that out by watching the weather report. We tell them to just fill out an accident report upon returning the car and The Boss will handle it. We do not need your insurance company info at this moment, that can go on the accident report. No, the renter does not need to repair the damage or clean the car before returning it. We employ people for that job.
Sitting at the counter occasionaly looking outside for hail, I actually was more concerned over my own car getting hail damage than my company's cars. Post later. Genie out.
